Our Story
For years, primary and secondary school students in the regions of Tanzania have faced significant challenges getting safely to and from school using public transportation.
Students are often left waiting for transport, arriving late to school, or reaching home late in the evening exposing them to risks such as harassment, sexual abuse, unsafe environments, and intimidation from conductors. For some, these challenges become so overwhelming that they eventually give up on school.
Then came a moment that made the problem impossible to ignore.
One night at around 9:00 PM, we saw a student walking alone along the road on the way home from school.
That moment raised a simple but urgent question: How many children are making this journey every day, and how many are facing the same risks?
The Rehoboth Foundation was born from that concern a commitment to help ensure that going to school does not put a child's safety, dignity, or future at risk.
We started with a simple belief: every child deserves a safe journey to education.
And that is where our journey began.
